Marketing Your Small Business Creatively During the Holidays

Embracing the spirit of the holiday season will allow you to create a more memorable experience for your customers and audience.

If you are reading this then we have some very exciting news for you! The holiday season is here! By “season,” we are referring to the months filled with costumes, celebrations, fun with friends and family, and of course, consuming delicious traditional meals that pair with each holiday. The great thing for us is that many of the big holidays are in front of us, which means there is no better time to take advantage than now. Right this second, we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and New Years on our radar. Before you know it, children of all ages will be knocking on your door looking for candy, plans for the holidays will be made, and you will have less time to focus on your small business. Before the hecticness sets in, let’s prepare.

Now is the time to get organized, get creative, and impress your audience with ideas that will showcase how fun and exciting your business is while still strengthening your brand and customer base. In order to set you up for success, our family at Adapting Social formulated some hacks that will allow you to become more memorable during this coming holiday season and elevate your business.

Create your calendar

Planning for each of these holidays can be a tricky task to handle, so why not break it down? Mark down each one in a calendar so that it serves as a reminder. The more time you have to prepare the better, so start getting the seasonal content ready now. From days you would like to have a sale to a day where you will be boosting a post on social media to maximize engagement, lay out your strategy. Be sure that you also include your employees in the preparation of the calendar as well so that everyone is on the same page. The more you plan ahead, the better.

Everybody loves a gift

What is not to love about Black Friday and Cyber Monday? These “holidays” have only one reason for existing – to create sales, and these sales have become a tradition amongst those that love to shop. Be sure that you let your audience know that you are planning on discounting products before your sale takes place and by how much. Have your marketing materials set to roll out and get people excited. To add even more worth to your deal, throw in a gift. This could be something as simple as providing information about a new product that is coming out or even a free coffee if you own a cafe. By doing this, your customers will be celebrating that they got an amazing deal and a gift and you will be celebrating because you just made another sale.

Smile for the camera

If you are not getting in front of the camera to promote your business as well as the holidays then you are not making the most out of the incredible power that the internet has to offer. Your audience will love having the opportunity to see how excited you are about the holidays as well as what promotions you will be offering. This video can go on social media, in an email that your business is sending out, or even on your website! This way it will maximize engagement and will get people pumped.

We understand that taking a video of yourself can be tricky, so to simplify this process we would love to have our videography team come out and shoot a video of you and your employees!

Stay active

During the holidays, it is common to get sidetracked due to parties, events, and the crazy nature of the season, but that cannot hold you back from staying active on social media and with email marketing. We recommend posting at least 3 to 4 times a week in order to maximize top of mind awareness and keep your followers interested. You can post anything from your business decorated for Halloween to a holiday-related sale going on to even your dog dressed up for the occasion! Each of these ideas will keep your audience engaged.

With email marketing, don’t be afraid to send a personal message to those on your mailing list. This can be anything from a feel-good story related to your business to a thank you email that shows how appreciative you are. Even if you are searching to tug on a customer’s heartstrings, don’t forget to still have a proper call to action.

Elevate your goals

As the end of the year approaches, take a look at where you are. How far your company has come, what goals you want to accomplish in the coming year, and take into account what you must do in order to make your dreams a reality. From strengthening your brand to coming out with a new product, always have goals that are difficult yet attainable. The perfect time to shift gears, try new things, and potentially even change direction is in the holiday season.

Be unique

In case you forgot, the holidays are all about having fun, spending time with those that are important to you, and showing your audience how much you care. Don’t be afraid to add some holiday humor into your marketing strategy, build the relationships you have with your customers, and truly enjoy the season.

Adding some holiday cheer into your marketing strategy during these months will allow you to be more fun, relatable, and memorable. To create a strategy that elevates your business, maximizes your marketing capabilities, and is a ton of fun, our team at Adapting Social is here to assist you every single step of the way.
